about

Jürgen Augusteyns left the comfort zone within the pop and rock circuit a few years ago and set out on new, unknown paths in search of wonder and open-mindedness.

Jürgen Augusteyns is a guitarist/improviser from Belgium inspired by guitarists such as Loren Connors, Chris Forsyth and Mick Turner, but also musicians and bands such as Sir Richard Bischop, Oren Ambarchi and Six organs of admittance. Jürgen sets out in search of his own musical universe, in which he embraces experimentation.

Improvisation is the common thread in both his studio work and his live performances, often making use of minimalist structures and repetitive patterns. They eagerly purify and silences also play a prominent role. The essence is given all the space to become, during the moment. Because that moment, he discovered, is everything, especially in improvisation.

He released two solo albums on the Ghent Bwaa label on cassette. There, too, he pushes his preference for a thorough DIY approach to the limit, with limited editions and matching handmade packaging.

In Berlin vielleicht (for Loren and Jim) is an adaption of 'You can stay if you want but I'm going home' from the 1999 live album 'In Bern' by Loren Connors and Jim o'Rourke.
